Thomas H. Lutsey, A Green Bay Agriculture Background & His Scholarship

The Thomas H. Lutsey Scholarship was established to help exemplary students with agricultural backgrounds and ambitions in affording educational opportunities.  The scholarship was established in recognition of Green Bay entrepreneur and businessman Thomas H. Lutsey, a believer in and an embodiment of, the belief that hard work and diligence are essential to success.

As a young milk farmer in rural Wisconsin during the 1930’s, Mr. Lutsey began his quest to establish the ice cream novelty industry.  Through the next 5 decades, equipped with creativity, self-determination, and an impeccable work ethic, he created and established Gold Bond Ice Cream, a business producing and distributing ice cream novelties across the United States and beyond.  For more information on his achievement, please follow the Historical Background link.

Among Mr. Lutsey’s convictions was a belief in the value of education.  He felt worthy students should be given the chance to continue learning and growing.  With this idea in mind, he set up a fund that provides financial assistance that continually encourage bright individuals to work hard and realize this goal.

After considering all applicants, the Thomas H. Lutsey Scholarship Committee determines who qualifies for the award, based on the individual’s scholastic achievement,  financial need, and life aspirations.  Eligible applicants must be pursuing a degree in a discipline related to rural life and agriculture.  If interested, please follow the How to Apply link.
